Byron Farmers Market
Grower-run farmers market in Byron Bay and Bangalow, backing the next generation of Northern Rivers farmers
Since 2002Works locallyNorthern Rivers
Byron Farmers Market was started in 2002 by a handful of local farmers and is still run by a volunteer committee of farmers under a not-for-profit umbrella. Every stallholder is audited to confirm their food is locally grown or made, with markets every Thursday at Butler Street Reserve in Byron Bay and Saturdays at its sister market in Bangalow.
Its Young Farmer Sponsorship Program, supported by Southern Cross University, offers people aged 18 to 35 starting a farm in the Northern Rivers $15,000, a free weekly stall and mentoring (2025 round). The market also donates food and money back into the community.
