Circular Northern Rivers
Bringing the Northern Rivers together for a circular, resilient economy
Circular Northern Rivers is a regional circular economy hub led from Southern Cross University's Lismore campus in NSW. It brings councils, producers, businesses, researchers and communities together to coordinate action, run pilot projects, attract investment and build long-term regional resilience.
The hub grew out of exploration and feasibility work in 2024 and 2025 and builds on the earlier ReCirculator program. Phase 1, from May 2026 to June 2028, is co-funded by Southern Cross University and Meat & Livestock Australia and covers listening and mapping, co-designing the hub's services, and lighthouse pilots in agriculture and food, manufacturing, the built environment, and community and social systems. It plans to become a co-operative.
