The Genossenschaft Mietshäuser Syndikat is a volunteer-run housing cooperative in the Basel region, founded in 2015, that buys houses collectively to keep them affordable and self-managed. Its houses include Güterstrasse (bought in spring 2025 for a nine-person house group), Klybeckstrasse and the Metallihäuser in Aesch, and the Ostdeck conversion in Pratteln is under construction. It also advises groups on collective house purchases and advocates for affordable housing.
