Resan is a self-organised community in Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, that conserves water sources through collective action. Volunteers plant and care for spring-protecting trees, run their own seedling nurseries, and clean and inspect village telaga (rain-fed ponds). It draws on local customs such as the Nyadran Besik ritual at Telaga Saga to bring residents into caring for their own water.
The community calls itself a movement rather than an organisation, with no formal management, running on kerelaan (willingness), gotong royong (mutual aid) and seduluran (kinship). Its site publishes regular writing on spring-protecting tree species such as beringin, kepuh and trembesi, on karst food cultures such as sorghum and tiwul, and on local water rituals. In April 2026 it joined Sekolah Pagesangan, the Girimulyo village government and youth groups for an Earth Day clean-up and inspection of Telaga Jurang Jero in Wintaos.
