Peliti is a volunteer community founded in 1995 that saves and shares traditional Greek seed varieties, with a seed bank of around 4,000 accessions. A network of 200+ seed guardians keeps varieties alive and local groups run across Greece, with chapters in Bulgaria and the US. Its annual Seed Festival in Mesochori, held since 1999, gives every visitor free seed sachets; the 26th edition ran on 18 April 2026.
All seeds are shared free; publications and donations cover running costs, and the work is done by volunteers. Founded by Panagiotis Sainatoudis, Peliti has been based in Mesochori, Paranesti (Drama) since 2003 and is raising funds for a dedicated seed building.
