Re-use Hawaiʻi takes buildings apart instead of demolishing them, sells the reclaimed materials affordably from its Salt Lake store, mills locally felled trees into slabs and runs a tool library and workforce pathways for people facing barriers to employment. Hawaiʻi Public Radio reported in May 2026 that it has recovered materials from nearly 900 projects, diverting about 8,200 tons of waste.
