Turtle Lodge

Anishinaabe house of knowledge on Sagkeeng First Nation, holding vision quests and ceremony for a good way of life

Since 2002Works internationallyLake Winnipeg / Winnipeg River

Turtle Lodge is an Indigenous centre for sharing ancient knowledge on Sagkeeng First Nation, Manitoba, built by volunteers, mostly young people, in 2002. Each spring it holds a Vision Quest rite of passage for men and adolescent boys, who fast on the land for four days and nights while Elders watch over them. It also holds seasonal ceremonies that are open to all.

In its own words, the Lodge works to reconnect people to the Earth and Nature, guided by Mino-Pi-Mati-Si-Win (A Good and Peaceful Way of Life). Its 2026 Spring Equinox Sacred Bundle Ceremony was open to everyone, with a potluck feast.
