Since 2008

Aotearoa Permaculture Workshop (APW) is a grassroots education organisation in Aotearoa New Zealand, co-founded by Gary Marshall and Finn Mackesy around 2008. It helps people navigate ecological, social and economic change through place-based learning, including a bioregional modular permaculture design certificate.

APW's modular permaculture design certificate has had more than 200 graduates and over 500 participants. It also publishes forest gardening guides, including an introduction to forest gardening for Aotearoa, and has been developing a new APW Foundation Programme with community crowdfunding. APW has been named as a partner in Auckland Council's Climate Ready Communities initiative.
