Since 1987
Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Co-operative describes itself as the longest-running Aboriginal-owned and run arts organisation dedicated to supporting and promoting NSW language group artists. Set up in 1987 by ten Aboriginal artists, it runs a gallery, studio and retail space in Leichhardt, in Sydney's Inner West.
Boomalli holds exhibitions, represents its artist members and sells their work in the gallery and online. Its founding artists included Bronwyn Bancroft, Euphemia Bostock, Brenda L. Croft, Fiona Foley, Fern Martens, Arone Meeks, Tracey Moffatt, Avril Quaill, Michael Riley and Jeffrey Samuels. For its 40th year in 2027 it is raising funds for a 100-metre public mural in Waterloo, on Gadigal Country.
