CIVIC SQUARE Birmingham
Neighbourhood-scale civic infrastructure for a just transition in Birmingham
- Home and Livelihood
- Community and Voice
CIVIC SQUARE is a community interest company in Ladywood, Birmingham, demonstrating neighbourhood-scale civic infrastructure for social, ecological, economic and climate transition. Its work includes a Neighbourhood Doughnut framework, street-level retrofit and energy demonstrations, and a Neighbourhood Public Square that widens access to shared spaces, tools and resources.
CIVIC SQUARE works from Tubeworks on Rotton Park Street. Its Neighbourhood Transitions work includes Retrofit Reimagined and a Neighbourhood Trade School, showing how homes and streets can change for carbon, energy and ecology. The Neighbourhood Doughnut adapts a planetary framework to the scale of a neighbourhood, as a compass for places that are ecologically safe and socially just. The team shares essays, audio and event recordings openly.
