Works locally
Hastings Commons is an ecosystem of local organisations bringing derelict buildings in the White Rock area into long-term community ownership through a community land trust. Its buildings, including the nine-storey Rock House, hold affordable homes, workspace for dozens of small local businesses and social spaces such as a youth club.
It grew from White Rock Neighbourhood Ventures, a partnership of Jericho Road Solutions, Meanwhile Space and the Heart of Hastings Community Land Trust. Rents are capped and set with residents. The Prince of Wales visited in July 2026 and met young people at a youth club in one of the restored buildings.
