Hepburn Energy (formerly Hepburn Wind) is a co-operative owned by almost 2,000 local members that runs two community wind turbines at Leonards Hill near Daylesford. It runs bulk buys and home electrification programs, is adding solar and battery storage, and shares profits with local projects through its community fund.
The co-operative formed in 2007 and the turbines have generated over 127,000 MWh. Its community fund contributes at least $30,000 a year and has backed 97 local projects. It also helped Trentham facilities install solar and batteries and runs a public EV charger.
