Founded by Fr Michael Lapsley in 1998 alongside the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the Institute runs multi-day Healing of Memories workshops and community dialogues from offices in Cape Town, Pietermaritzburg and Gauteng. In September and October 2026 it held social cohesion dialogues with refugees, youth and Mfuleni Women for Peace and took its Restoring Humanity youth to the District Six Museum.
