Founded in Pokhara in 1995, LI-BIRD works with farming communities to conserve and use local crop diversity. It developed participatory methods such as community seed banks and helped those seed banks form their own association, which built the 'Our Seed' catalogue app. In October 2026 it convened the first workshop of a national Pollinator Network.
111 full-time staff (42% women) working in 18 districts across five provinces.
