New Economy Coalition
A US network for the solidarity economy and a just transition
- Home and Livelihood
Since 2012
The New Economy Coalition is a membership-based network representing the solidarity economy movement in the United States. Founded in 2012, it supports a just transition from an extractive to a regenerative economy, centring Black, Indigenous and working-class communities.
NEC's members include nonprofits, mission-driven businesses, grassroots community organisations and sectoral associations. It is a worker self-directed nonprofit with no executive director, making decisions through an adapted form of sociocracy. Its programs cover arts, culture and storytelling, the Black Solidarity Economy, education and training, member gatherings and governance, and movement resourcing and regranting.
