Since 2017
Pacha Mama Alliance Kenya is a grassroots community-based organisation in Oyugis, Homa Bay County, Kenya, founded in 2017 by Micah Opondo. It works on environmental stewardship, ecological literacy and community resilience through tree planting, tree nurseries, and training in regenerative agriculture, permaculture and climate education.
The group reports planting more than 150,000 trees across schools, public lands and churches, setting up over 40 tree and fruit seed nurseries for 42 groups, and training more than 700 people, mostly young people and families. It runs Awakening the Dreamer symposiums, school outreach and youth programs, and partners with schools, NEMA and youth groups. It is separate from the US-based Pachamama Alliance.
