Since 2014
Seed Mob is Australia's first Indigenous youth climate network, led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. Founded in 2014, it builds the skills, confidence and networks of young First Nations people to protect land, water and the future from climate change, and campaigns for a just transition away from fossil fuels.
Seed began as part of the Australian Youth Climate Coalition and became an independent, First Nations-led organisation in 2020, with a board made up only of First Nations people. It does not take government funding and relies on community support and a volunteer network. Its campaigns have included opposing gas fracking in the Beetaloo Basin in the Northern Territory, including the 2018 documentary Water is Life, and supporting Gomeroi Traditional Owners against the Narrabri gas project.
