Since 2006Works across the regionUS Southeast / Piedmont
Since 2006 SAAFON has been an organising space for Black farmers who practise ecologically sustainable farming in the Southeastern United States, the US Virgin Islands and the wider Caribbean. It connects farmers with one another, invests directly in farms, and works on public visibility and food system change, including farmer brigades for Hurricane Helene recovery in 2024 and plans for produce markets at the Boggs Rural Life Center in Keysville, Georgia.
Its documentary series "With These Hands" profiles member farms in Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina. In August 2026 it was recruiting an operations manager.
