Conservation International is a global nonprofit founded in 1987 and based in Arlington, Virginia, that works to protect nature for people's wellbeing. It has offices in 35 countries and projects in more than 100, with about 1,600 staff, most of its program staff from the regions where they work.
Its work centres on climate (removing carbon and helping communities adapt), oceans (marine protected areas and sustainable fisheries and aquaculture) and biodiversity (protecting and restoring ecosystems while creating jobs). It works through science, partnerships and field projects, with an approach that respects human rights and gender equality and builds local livelihoods.
