Since 2001

The Tasmanian Land Conservancy is a not-for-profit based in Hobart that protects nature on private land across Tasmania. It buys and cares for its own reserves, runs conservation science, and works with landholders through covenants, Land for Wildlife and Gardens for Wildlife.

Established in 2001, the TLC manages a network of reserves on mountain tops, coasts, woodlands, wetlands and grasslands. It also buys properties, protects them with conservation covenants and resells them to owners who will care for them. Its programs include the Midlands Conservation Partnership, covenant programs and WildTracker, a citizen science program for landholders. The TLC Foundation, set up in 2009, supports the long-term care of its reserves. People can take part through volunteering, reserve visits and events.
