Beacon Food Forest is a community-run urban food forest on City of Seattle land west of Jefferson Park, combining agroforestry and permaculture design to grow a diverse, edible landscape. It began in 2009 when four Beacon Hill neighbours studying food forestry designed the site, planted its first trees in 2012 and expanded with a second phase from 2019. Volunteers run it through monthly work parties, a giving garden that supplies food banks, a BIPOC garden and P-Patch plots, managed by the Food Forest Collective, a 501(c)(3).
