Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

A not-for-profit wildlife sanctuary in Currumbin on the Gold Coast, Queensland, caring for Australian native animals through conservation, research and education. It began in 1947 when Alex Griffiths opened his lorikeet feeding to the public, and today it shares its site with the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital.

Visitors can meet koalas and other native animals, see the free wild lorikeet feeding each morning and afternoon, and join school visits, incursions, workshops and holiday programs. The sanctuary's conservation work includes education, research and protecting particular species, and it says every dollar spent there goes towards saving wildlife. It is linked with the National Trust of Australia (Queensland).
