Yorozuya is the local currency of Fujino in Sagamihara, Kanagawa, grown out of the Transition Town Fujino movement. Members carry a paper passbook and trade in the unit yorozu (roughly 1 yen): the giver records a plus, the receiver a minus, and both sign, so the system always nets to zero. Local businesses such as a bakery have accepted it for part of a price, and the group recently trialled cost-only ride sharing.
No notes are issued; credit is created in each exchange, a simple mutual-credit system suited to a rural mountain town. New members join after an orientation session; one was held on 15 March 2026 at Fujino Central Community Centre.
