Furusato Farmers is a volunteer-based NPO in northern Chigasaki that brings abandoned rice paddies, vegetable fields and soybean fields back into use with no-till farming, without pesticides or chemical fertilisers. It grows the local Kurosengoku soybean from seed-bank stock and returns seed for future use, and runs school environmental education more than 20 times a year.
Farming this way since 2021, the group became an NPO in May 2024. It manages about 6,000 m² next to Kanagawa Prefectural Satoyama Park with around 50 members, and on 3 February 2026 received the Kanagawa Decarbonization Award.
