Local Futures

Local Futures is an international organisation founded by Helena Norberg-Hodge that has helped pioneer the worldwide localisation movement. It promotes the renewal of local economies and cultures as a response to our disconnection from nature and community, through films, books, podcasts, education and campaigns.

Its work includes World Localization Day, the Planet Local resource library and podcast series, the Ladakh Project, the Alliance for Localization and The Real Economy campaign. Its films include The Economics of Happiness and The Economics of Eating, and it runs courses such as The Big Picture Masterclass. Helena Norberg-Hodge's book Ancient Futures: Learning from Ladakh is among its publications.
