Since 2009, Shan Shui Conservation Center (山水自然保护中心) has worked with herder villages in Sanjiangyuan, Qinghai, on community-led protection of snow leopards and alpine grassland. Herder monitors run infrared camera surveys, anti-poaching patrols and grassland restoration, and the work also covers human-wildlife conflict, community nature experiences and waste.
Workstations at Angsai (Zadoi County) and Jiatang (Chenduo County); since 2021 grassland work extends to Qilian Mountain National Park, Nagqu and Dingqing. Its community-led model helped inform how Sanjiangyuan National Park is managed. Monitoring with Peking University.
