Shareable

Shareable is a nonprofit, founded in 2009 by Neal Gorenflo and Laurie Schecter, that works with organisers and allies to imagine, resource, network and scale cooperative and sharing projects. It publishes stories, toolkits and guides on sharing cities, mutual aid, libraries of things and co-ops, used by community groups in the US and around the world.

Shareable began during the Great Recession. Its Sharing Cities network, started in 2013, led to the book Sharing Cities: Activating the Urban Commons and to municipal programs in more than 100 cities. It runs Mutual Aid 101 learning and toolkits, supports Libraries of Things and incubates the Tool Library Alliance, and runs a Social Co-op Academy. It also offers fellowships, the podcast The Response and an Emergency Battery Network toolkit, and is restructuring as a worker self-directed nonprofit.
