Founded in 2012 by Shi Yan (石嫣), who earlier helped start Little Donkey Farm, China's first CSA. Its farms in Tongzhou and Shunyi grow vegetables, fruit and grain and raise livestock without chemical fertiliser or pesticides, using microbial soil improvement, biodegradable mulch and weedy orchard floors as insect habitat. It also trains new farmers and builds sales channels for other ecological growers.
It runs a bread workshop and education and study-tour programmes. Shi Yan describes it as a social enterprise balancing soil health, farmers' livelihoods and staff development.
