The Homeless Workers' Movement (MTST) opened its first Cozinha Solidária in March 2021 and now runs about 55 kitchens across 14 states and the Federal District. Kitchens serve free meals in peripheral neighbourhoods and spin up emergency kitchens after floods, as in Rio Grande do Sul. The project reports more than 5.8 million meals served by end of 2024.
