Food Hub Project was set up in Kamiyama, Tokushima, in 2016 by the town, its Kamiyama Tsunagu corporation and local businesses to keep farming and food culture alive in a shrinking mountain town. It farms organically, trains new farmers until they can farm independently, and runs the restaurant Kamaya and the bakery Kamapan & Store using its own and partner farmers' produce, including heritage Kamiyama wheat. It also runs food education with local schools and supplies the Kamiyama Marugoto College dormitory, aiming for 80% local food.
