North Australian Indigenous Land and Sea Management Alliance

An Indigenous-led not-for-profit company based in Brinkin, Darwin, working across north Australia. Guided by the words "Looking after our country... our way", NAILSMA connects Indigenous organisations and supports Traditional Owners to manage their land and sea Country, combining Indigenous knowledge with science.

NAILSMA grew from the ideas of north Australian land council leaders in the 1990s and became an independent not-for-profit charity in 2012. It provides technical expertise, research, funding and policy support, with strengths in biodiversity, water policy, marine and coastal management, data and carbon. Its projects include savanna fire and carbon management, protecting Country from invasive species, and Healthy Country AI.
