Works nationally
Justa Trama is a cooperative network that links farmers growing pesticide-free cotton in Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte, spinners and weavers in Minas Gerais, seamstresses in Porto Alegre and button makers in Rondônia. More than 700 cooperative members share in the whole chain, from seed to finished garment, and sell through fairs, their shop and online.
It grew out of the Univens seamstresses' cooperative in the Sarandi neighbourhood of Porto Alegre and has over 20 years of history. Recent work includes organic cotton bedsheets for public hospitals, embroidery events with local women, and taking part in COP30 in Belém in November 2025 as an example of solidarity economy.
